You can look up the history on the Internet. I’m a recovering alcoholic,9 yrs.I didn’t do drugs except pot. I’m 65 so all of the available drugs now weren’t as available when I was growing up. They were around but not accessible.or as cheap. Most people now addicted are battling, when they want, more than one addiction.Alcohol and heroin are the toughest. Both are both physically and psychologically addictive. The history in re to dealing with it? It’s always changing. I council people all the time and each one requires a different approach. At the present time I’m of the firm belief that they are psychological reasons why a person becomes an addict. It’s not only the gene or the environment thing.I put that on the back burner. These come in, I think, when the solution to whatever problem is, is escape. But what is the the underlying problem? What are they running away from? This isn’t an earthshaking ,unknown theory. It’s a fact and it’s well used in recovery. I bring it up here to show the importance of professional intervention.I’m not a pro. But I’ve been there. If I can get them to a shrink or rehab, I’m doin okay . God blessed the person I WORKED WITH; they have to want it and work with you.I wish you well in your research.
