Director, Northern Europe Marketing

“Pleo was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2015 by”... That’s usually how an opening line about Pleo goes but a lot has happened since. With over 30,000 customers across 16 markets we’re Europe’s #1 spend management solution and we’re growing fast.

So what’s the opportunity?

We are looking for a forward thinking, modern marketing leader to take things to the next level in the Northern Europe region (includes UK, Ireland and Nordics regions). You will have a passion for developing talent (afterall, we are nothing without happy, motivated people), have a commercial mindset and be obsessed with driving outcomes and impact. This is a critical role within the marketing competency, but it is equally important that you can connect the dots outside of the team. You will need to be a highly effective collaborator.

In this role you will..

  • Have overall ownership of Northern Europe regional marketing targets (pipeline, ARR, expansion, retention) aligned to Pleo’s growth ambitions
  • Create and execute a regionally impactful marketing strategy, including integrated campaigns, webinars, events and brand programmes, that builds awareness while also generating and accelerating pipeline.
  • Bring an experimental mindset and test and learn from new tactics and activities in market
  • Contribute to the annual and quarterly marketing planning processes. Manage UKI and Nordics regional marketing budgets, ensuring vendors are paid on time, budget is tracked and utilised to full extent
  • Be the voice of the UKI and Nordics regions for central marketing functions (e.g. content marketing, product marketing) and collaborate with central teams to agree priorities for region and support execution of those programmes
  • Partner with PR team to deliver plans in UKI and Nordics regions that increase Pleo’s brand awareness and share of voice
  • Work with content to showcase the value of Pleo through local customer stories and testimonials that can become a core tenet of our local messaging
  • Forecast, measure, analyse and report programme results to drive continuous improvement and seek to generate new global best practices through experimental efforts
  • Enable sales teams with toolkits, templates, and campaign timelines to ensure alignment between outbound sales and marketing efforts
  • Work closely with SDR and sales leadership to ensure close alignment of marketing campaigns and initiatives tied to outcomes
  • Hire, mentor and develop our Northern Europe Regional Marketing team

What you will bring..

  • A solid understanding of the modern SaaS customer buying journey with the ability to develop plans and initiatives to increase engagement
  • Experience in leading, managing, motivating and developing a geographically dispersed marketing team
  • Experience in launching in new regional markets and building strong marketing functions from the ground up
  • Experience working with central marketing functions and extending programs across the region optimising and accounting for regional and local differences. You will play a key role in influencing the direction of travel for such campaigns
  • Strong stakeholder management, ensuring alignment across key domains to define and validate marketing initiatives and programs
  • Hands on knowledge and understanding of marketing automation tools (HubSpot is our tool of choice)

You..

  • Have a minimum of 10 years experience in marketing leadership roles with a track record of developing and leading diverse teams across multiple geographies
  • Are a connector and an aggregator and work well in highly matrixed environments
  • You are self-motivated, energetic and a data-driven marketer with a passion of building and developing high performing teams
  • Excel in a fast paced environment and embrace change and ambiguity
  • Are results and impact oriented
  • FinTech/SaaS background would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools such as HubSpot

Why join us?

Working at Pleo means you're working on something very exciting: the future of work. Our mission is to help every company go beyond the books. Pleo itself means ‘more than you’d expect’, and it’s been the secret to our success over the last 8 years. So it’s only fitting that we’d pass this philosophy onto our customers to help them make the most of their finances.

We think company spending should be delegated to all employees and teams, that it should be as automated as possible, and that it should drive a culture of responsible spending. Finance teams shouldn’t be siloed from the rest of the organisation – they should work in unity with marketing, sales, IT and everyone else.

Speaking of working in unity, our values tell the story of how we work at Pleo. We have four core values, the first of which is ‘champion the customer’, which means we address real pain points that businesses face. Next up is ‘succeed as a team’, which highlights how our strength lies in our diversity and trust in each other. We also ‘make it happen’ by taking bold decisions and following through to deliver results. Last but not least, we ‘build to scale’, creating lasting solutions that address today’s challenges and anticipate tomorrow’s needs.

So, in a nutshell, that's Pleo. Today we are a 850+ team, from over 100 nations, sitting in our Copenhagen HQ, London, Stockholm, Berlin, Madrid, Montreal and Lisbon offices —and quite a few full-time remotes in 35 other countries! Being HQ'd out of Copenhagen means we're inspired by things like a good work-life balance. If you don't work in the office with us, we'll help you set up the best remote setup possible and make sure you still have time to connect with your team.
